BIG Bob Mirovic will be attempting to become the first boxer to win the Australian heavyweight title three times when he challenges reigning champion Colin Wilson at Southport RSL Club on the Gold Coast on November 2.

Mirovic, who divides his time between the Central Coast and the Illawarra where he grew up and began his boxing career, is confident of etching his name in Australian boxing history.

"And that will happen. It's under seven weeks to my fight and I'm starting my countdown. I've never felt fitter," Mirovic said yesterday. "I have never prepared for a fight like I have for this one."

Part of his training has been with the Bondi lifeguards including Rod Kerr and Terry McDermott.

"They're interested in putting me in a segment on their (Bondi Rescue) program," Mirovic said.

Mirovic visited a sports psychologist two weeks ago and was hypnotised for more than an hour.

"I gained a lot from that experience. I've got confidence, I believe in myself, I know everything's right," he said.

"You know the only thing that can stop me being champion? Kryptonite."

Mirovic is hoping for a rematch with New Zealander Shane Cameron who knocked him out on the undercard of the WBA world super middleweight title fight between Anthony Mundine and Sam Soliman in Sydney in March this year.

Mirovic's trainer Angelo Hyder said that rematch possibility would become a reality if Danny Green's IBO light heavyweight title fight against world champion Antonio Tarver in December was in Sydney rather than New York.

But that is something for further down the track, with Mirovic focusing on regaining the Australian title from Wilson and holding it for the third time in his boxing career.

Mirovic will box a public exhibition at Erina on October 20 to raise funds for the children's ward at Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital.
